The Sound Society is a music tuition academy where our philosophy is to combine the fun and creative process of learning music while also encouraging the tradition and pedagogy of music. We aim to equip our students with the tools and knowledge of music to be their most creative self.
We offer tuition for: Guitar, Vocals, Piano, Bass, Ukulele, Drums, Violin, Theory, Production and Songwriting.
At The Sound Society our goal is to offer a fun and create space for our student to learn. We offer one on one lessons in a safe and inclusive environment. All of our tutors are required to hold current WWCC. We offer tuition to all ages and levels of ability.

bree de rome

Voice | Guitar | Songwriting
Bree De Rome is a singer/songwriter who caught the attention of many music lovers around the nation with her self penned tune ‘I Know You Well’. The song first aired on National Television, leading to her Grand Final appearance on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011. Bree has gained many years of experience performing at festivals and in venues around Australia supporting the likes of The Teskey Brothers, Amy Shark and Bob Evans. In 2013 Bree independently release her debut EP ‘Bag of Bones' and was a finalist in the Queensland Music Songwriters Awards, in 2015 she was the recipient of AMP's Tomorrow Makers Fund Award. Bree holds a Bachelor of Popular Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and studied vocals under Venetta Fields for a number of years. Bree has a passion for music education and is currently completing a Master of (Secondary) Teaching. Bree has many years experience teaching all ages and levels of ability in private music tuition and during her time at The Australian Children's Music Foundation.
peter Gabrielides

Peter Gabrielides is an award winning musician and songwriter who has carved a name for himself as a guitar player and multi-instrumentalist for a wide range of artists. Through the years Peter played for the likes Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet, Asta, Luke O’Shea, The Jezebels, Jack Colwell and Furnace and The Fundamentals. In 2013 Peter won a Golden Guitar award and was a finalist for APRA Song of the Year. Peter has gained an enormous amount of experience through the years playing in many different musical situations and has played almost every genre of music one could think of. Peter has Bachelor of Music from The Australian Institute of Music. He teaches Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, in addition to Ensemble and Band programs. Peter is currently completing his Master of (Secondary) Teaching.


Olivia

Voice | Piano | Songwriting
Olivia is a classically trained singer and pianist completing her honours thesis for the Bachelor of Contemporary Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Olivia has been involved in choral singing, musical theatre productions and songwriting programmes including the 2017-2018 New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir and the Play It Strange 2018 Songwriting Competition. She has also sung in various musicals and choral groups across Australia and New Zealand. Olivia teaches piano and singing.
Joseph
Guitar | bass | theory | Composition
Joseph is a guitarist with a rich foundation in pop, rock, classical, and intercultural music. In the 2000s, his band Junto toured with renowned acts like COG and Grinspoon, showcasing his unique compositional style. He currently performs in an experimental jazz-rock fusion duo, Tabua-Harrison, with Australian composer Holly Harrison. Beyond this collaboration, Joseph integrates his rock background and Fijian heritage with elements of minimalism and aleatoric music, which is the focus of his doctoral research. An experienced educator, he has taught at both the university level and in various music schools. Recent highlights include solo performances at the Volume Festival and the Art Gallery of NSW, as well as playing bass in Tina Turner The Musical.


Armah
Piano | composition
Armah is a pianist and performer with over 15 years of experience on piano in formal training. He specialises in jazz and composition with proficiency in genres such as funk, rnb, soul, pop and rock. With a rich musical background and performance experience, Armah brings a unique blend of creativity and expertise to his students providing them with education in AMEB, trinity and Rockschool curriculum. Armah has experience teaching all ages and skill levels, whether it be a young one with fascination for beginner piano, or a mature student desiring to learn advanced jazz harmony. In addition to teaching, Armah is an accomplished performer and composer. He has graced the stages of Sydney's renowned venues such as Lazybones, Factory Theatre and the Opera house, with audiences of up to 2000 people. Armah is also a band leader and has achieved high accolades in Music Performance with awards for Composition and arrangement, Improvisation, Stagecraft and Aural skills.
Renushi

Renushi is a pianist and vocalist, she has showcased her talents in performances worldwide. She recently earned two gold medals at the World Choir Games in New Zealand (July 2024). Renushi has been a music teacher for over 10 years, fostering a love for music in her students. Throughout her career, she has guided students on their musical journey, helping them develop technical proficiency and a deep appreciation for the art form. In addition one on one coaching Renushi has also trained junior and secondary choirs for competitions and festivals. She is currently preparing for the CTMusA with AMEB and plans to pursue the LMusa in singing.


Naya
Voice | Piano | violin | Composition
Naya is a pianist, vocalist and violinist, her musical journey as a multi-instrumentalist started at just 2 years old, by 5 years old Naya performed her first piano concert at The National Library of Indonesia. Naya has had over 12 years of experience in choirs as a soprano’s, which has lead to becoming a Gold medalist in both National to International choir competitions. Naya’s passion for composition has lead to her songs being performed at various children and youth choir competitions. During her schooling years Naya attended a school dedicated to Classical Music Education where she became the concertmistress for 3 years. She has extensive experience as a violinist in large orchestras in addition to her own violin chamber since 2021. As a pianist Naya was nominated for the National Pianist award in 2021 and was employed as an accompanist for Indonesian National Air Force. Naya’s education includes classical voice training with Korean tenor Yun Sun Dook, Indonesian soprano Silvya Wiryadi and completing Music Theory ABRSM grade 5, Violin ABRSM grade 7, Vocal Trinity grade 6.
Alistair
Drums
Alistair is a drum teacher with over 10 years of experience playing in ensembles and studying under top musicians. He’s played just about every genre out there but has a personal soft spot for jazz, using it as a way to sharpen his technique and improvisation skills.
Currently finishing up a Bachelor of Performance at the Australian Institute of Music, Alistair is an active part of Sydney’s indie music scene, playing gigs all over town. Some of his biggest shows have been at iconic venues like Metro Social and Crowbar. Whether he’s on stage or in the practice room, his approach to drumming is all about versatility, creativity, and making music that feels good to play.
